New Delhi, Feb 8: Women may be considered better at culiniary skills as per common belief but Bollywood dance diva Madhuri Dixit says that her husband Sriram Nene is a better cook compared to her.
''He (Sriram Nene) has a natural inclination for cooking. Just as I am passionate about dance, heloves cooking. It is something that comes naturally to him,'' Madhuri said at a launch of celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor's new 24-hour food channel "Food Food" here last evening.
Admitting that she had been an average cook when she married Dr Nene, Madhuri, who came more than two hours late to the event due to delay of her flight, said her husband had aroused her interest in cooking.
''He is the one who aroused my interest in the art of cooking.
Thanks to him,I have become a good cook,''Madhuri saidOn this occason, Sanjeev Kapoor also announced the launch of the 'Food Food' foundation.
Talking about the new Food channel and the 'Food Food' foundation, Madhuri, who is the brand's lifestyle ambassador, said,''I am extremely delighted with the concept behind the 'Food Food' channel. Our country is so vast and rich in cuisines that often go unnoticed. A foundation like Food Food will surely provide the necessary ingredients to promote and encourage culiniary skills across the country. As a country, we need a foundation like this to highlight the uniqueness of Indian food across the World.'' Madhuri was present at the function along with celebrity chef Sanjiv Kapoor and chairman, Mogae consultants and former group CEO of Zee Telefilms, Sandeep Goyal.
Speaking at the launch of the channel, chef Sanjeev Kapoor said, today food has acquired dimensions that go beyond mere consumption. As our country breaks new ground in almost every field, food is rapidly becoming central to our lives. It's not just about calories and taste, its about having fun, enjoying life with food around which the family and friends gather.
Through the Food Food foundation, we aim to reach out to aspiring chefs across the country, encourage and promote their talent.'' Speaking at the launch, the COO of the Channel, Karthik Lakshminarayan said the channel boasts of its own 'food editor'- renowned chef Rakesh Sethi (with over 28 years experience across Taj Sats, Oberoi and Intercontinental hotels) and several Indian celebrity chefs (Nitin Tandon, Shantanu Gupte, Anurag Bali etc) that add spice to its programming content.
''Our entire content and programming is in Hindi and is created by Indians, for Indians. In order to connect to our audiences across the country, we will feature shows about food and food lifestyle like 'Firangi tadka', 'Sirf 30 Minute', 'Sanjeev Kapoor's Kitchen', 'Chef Ka Muqabla' and 'Ready Steady Cook' to name a few,''he said.
The channel will be available in both analog and digital formats.
